"The last few days I have been in a moral bind," he began the post. "It's tough in situations like this where there's a tragedy and I consider the advice of my trusted advisors and counsel who worry that anything I might say could be misinterpreted. However, today I am choosing to follow my heart."
The Degrassi alum went on to extend his condolences to the families of the deceased, Ariela Navarro-Fenoy and Duvel Hibbert. The two were killed on Aug. 4 inside Toronto nightclub Muzik, which hosted the official bash for Drake's sixth annual music festival.
"I am plagued and pained by the violence that continues to escalate in our city," the Canada native wrote on Friday, adding that despite its reputation as a major metropolis, Toronto is "still a small close-knit community" at its core. "It is our public responsibility to ensure the safety and wellbeing of one another."
He further shared his wish to see today's youth "shine as bright as they possibly can in this lifetime," and pleaded for his generation to show "value and gratitude" for life. "I pray for better times and better understanding," he concluded.
